My entire career is still available on backup.
In some part of my lizard brain, I knew this. I’ve had this data moved from backup solution (including DAT, disk-to-disk, optical, monkey-typewriters) to backup solution over the years.
Rather than pull the HDDs out of my old rig and plunk them in the new one, I opted to restore data from my backup media. This is probably slower all things considered, but I wanted to sift.
I found archives from college and my earliest gigs in the technology world (wiping user’s noses). I found stuff I’d written when I was at my peak of writing proliferation. I’ve got days and days of reading to catch up on!
