Notch… isn’t really a very interesting word, in my opinion. You can go places with it I suppose: bedposts and belts and the like. But otherwise not very interesting.

If you sift through all the Minecraft results of a web search for notch, you might come across a practice in the northeastern United States where lobster fishermen cut a v-shaped notch out of the tail flipper of a female lobster. It identifies a known breeder in the population and protects her from being harvested. The notch eventually disappears with seasonal molting.
